The road seemed as long as the horizon. Sitting in the passenger seat, shifting left and then right, Sean could feel his muscles tingle. “Amber, I need a restroom.”

Amber gazed over at her boyfriend and smirked. “I told you not to drink so much coffee!”

“Yeah, yeah,” Sean replied. “Just pull over already.”

Sighing, Amber scanned the road. “You want me to find a rest stop?”

Sean shifted again and gazed over at the fuel gauge. “Looks like we need to get gas. How about that gas station just up ahead?”

Amber smiled and nodded. “Fine,” she returned as she began to slow down. “You sure you want to stop here though?”

  Sean frowned. “Yes, why?”

Amber cringed at the sight. “It just looks dirty.”

Sean shifted again. “It doesn’t matter,” he snapped. “Pull off!”

Amber slowed and pulled off the highway. She then turned into the fuel station. As they came to a stop, Sean jumped out and rushed to the restroom door.

Amber chuckled as she watched him run. “I so told him,” she mumbled.

Sean grabbed the door and yanked it open. The smell almost repelled him back. The whiff made him want to gag. “Oh my God,” he said as he pressed himself into the room.

Gagging as he made his way to the urinal, The sight made him sick. The urinal was the most disgusting he had ever laid his eyes on. The porcelain was brown with yellow and brown caked matter lining the outer walls. “This is so nasty,” he uttered as he began to relieve himself.

The stream of fluid leaving his body felt relieving. Sean closed his eyes as he tried to finish as quickly as he could. He pushed his muscles so that he could finish. But as he did so he suddenly felt splashing against his skin. “Ah shit,” he muttered as he glanced down between his legs. Some of the caked brownish yellow material had splattered on him. “That’s nasty,” he uttered as he finished up. He then carefully walked over to the toilet stall and grabbed a piece of toilet paper off the roller. He quickly wiped the material away and tossed it into the toilet. “That’s so gross,” he said as he proceeded over to the sink. But he abruptly stopped as he noticed the sign. “Out of order… for real? Wow.”

Dismissing the sink, Sean turned for the door and then headed back to the car. Amber was sitting in the passenger seat. “Your turn to drive?”

Sean sighed and nodded. “You have any sanitizer babe?”

Amber opened her purse and rummaged through it. “No. Why?” she mocked. “No soap?”

Sean dismissed her remarks and started the car. “I’ll tell you about it later.”

She chuckled as she settled into the seat. Sean pressed the gas pedal down and they pulled back onto the road. “It was pretty dirty, wasn’t it?”

He glanced over at her with an annoyed look. “I’ve never used a restroom that nasty.”

“Well next time maybe you’ll listen to me when I tell you to lay off the coffee?”

Sean sighed and pressed down on the gas pedal. “I just want to get to the hotel. I need a shower.”

Amber looked over at him and then smiled as she pulled down the passenger side mirror to add a few touchups to her makeup. “Well when we get there we can shower together.”

Sean grinned as he imagined her naked body up against his. “I’d like that,” he replied.

“I thought you would,” Amber returned as she began to add a new layer of lipstick.

Watching her out of the corner of his eye, Sean loved how her shoulder length chocolate brown hair hung along the edges of her shoulders. The wind caught it just perfectly from the window. She was a living piece of art. She was beautiful, graceful, and spirited.

Trying to focus on the road, Sean began to feel an itch on the inside of his right leg. It was an awkward tingling, one he felt compelled to scratch. Bringing his left hand down to his leg, he began to gently scratch the area of the itch.

Amber caught a glimpse of Sean itching. “You okay?” she asked.

Sean nodded as he began to itch more vigorously. “Yeah. I just have this damn itch. It’s really annoying.”

Amber grinned. “Want me to scratch it for you?”

Sean paused for a moment. “No, it’ll pass.”

She settled back in her chair and returned to her makeup. The itch was nagging at him. Sean shifted in the driver’s seat as he continued to steadily scratch the itch. It was an odd feeling as it seemed that the itch was slowly spreading up his leg. The itching was annoying him. His skin tingled and the more he rubbed his skin, the worse it became.

“Honey, you need me to rub some lotion on it?” Amber asked. “Maybe it’s from the heat?”

Sean gazed over at her. “It might be the heat. Turn on the air conditioning Babe.”

Amber nodded and leaned forward. She switched on the air conditioning. The air began to blow out against his thighs. The cold was refreshing. “Is it helping?” she asked.

  Sean nodded. “Yes.”

“Good,” Amber replied. She then kicked the chair back. “Wake me when we get to the hotel.”

  “Okay,” Sean returned.

Watching Amber drift off to sleep, Sean could feel the itch return with vengeance. The urge seemed to be spreading up and down his thigh. But now it seemed that his other leg was bothering him as well. He wanted to pull off the road and strip down, and then scratch all of the skin that seemed to be beckoning his relief.

The itch plagued him for a full hour until they reached the hotel. As they arrived at the destination he had one goal in mind, the shower. He hoped a good long shower would ease the tingling he now felt up and down his legs.

  “Amber,” he said. “We’re here?”

Amber opened her eyes and gazed up at the hotel sign. “Oh,” she said as she began to stir herself awake. “That was quicker than I thought.”

Sean popped the trunk and opened the door. He then got out and proceeded to grab their suitcase. Amber opened her door and stepped out. “This will be such an amazing weekend for us.”

Sean shut the trunk and turned for the main office. “Come on. Let’s go check in. I need to get into that shower.”

“Oh honey, are you still itching?” she asked.

  Sean nodded reluctantly. “All over.”

“Come on. We’ll get checked in and I’ll rub lotion all over you right after our shower.”

The two proceeded into the main office. The attendant at the front desk greeted them with a smile. “Welcome to Sundance Hill. Do you have a reservation?”

Sean handed the reservation slip over to the attendant. “We’ll be staying the weekend.”

The attendant took the slip and smiled. “Perfect, we’ve been expecting you. You’re in room 1023. Enjoy your stay,” they said as they handed Sean the key.

Sean took the key and turned for the hallway leading to the room. Amber was right next to him. She took his hand and the two headed down the corridor. “This is beautiful,” she remarked.

Sean tried to dismiss the aching between his legs. The itch had changed to a subtle ache, combined with an odd burning sensation. “We’ve needed this vacation for a few months now.”

Amber nodded. “Your itch any better?”

Sean tried not to focus on the itch. “A little. It’s still tingling and aching a bit. It was probably just the heat from the car. I’ll be good after the shower.”

“Well we will get you out of these clothes and then your skin will be able to breathe,” Amber said.

Nodding as they continued to the corner, they reached their room. Sean slid the key into the door. The door lock beeped as it unlocked. He then pushed the handle down and entered with Amber behind him. The room was freshly made up. He proceeded to set the suitcase down next to the bed.

Amber grabbed him as the door closed behind them. She pulled him close and brought his lips to her own. She quietly kissed him and grabbed his shirt. “I want you,” she whispered into his ear.

Sean could feel his skin burning. But he couldn’t turn her away. He wanted her too. The burning itch was annoying him, but he dismissed it for his desire for her.

The sun had already set and the room was dark. Sean pulled Amber’s shirt off as she unzipped his pants. She then pulled his underwear off. He slid his hands up her skirt and bent her over the bed. She felt him enter her and press himself up against her. “Oh Sean,” she began to moan.

He rubbed up against her over and over until she screamed and he felt a surge of adrenaline flood his veins. There was a calming moment for him. He held her against his body. Amber stared into his deep green eyes. Her blue pearl eyes twinkled in the rising moonlight. He didn’t want to let go. But the itching had returned. He pulled away from her and headed into the bathroom.

“That was so good Baby,” Amber said as she rose from the bed.

“What the hell?” Sean remarked in disbelief.

“What?” Amber returned as she proceeded into the bathroom. “What’s wrong?”

Amber stopped as she saw what Sean was looking at. “What is that?”

Sean was staring at where the itch was coming from. He had a strange growth on his skin. It was a brownish yellow growth.

She quivered as she put her finger out to touch the growth. Touching it, Sean squirmed in pain.

“Damn that hurts!” he snapped as he struggled to hold back tears.

Amber looked at him with concern. “What is it?”

Sean shrugged. “I don’t know. I think I will need to go have it checked out tomorrow.”

  “You sure we should wait?”

“I’m not going to ruin our weekend because of this. I’ll have it checked tomorrow.”

“Okay,” Amber returned. “You still want me to join you in the shower?”

He paused and shook his head. “I think I am just going to go to bed.”

She nodded and followed him back to the bed. He pulled the sheets back and crawled in. She followed him. Snuggling next to him, she watched as he turned out the lights.

The clock read three in the morning as Amber was startled awake. She had an annoying itch that crawled along her abdomen. She reached down and began to scratch. It seemed to be spreading into her legs. “Sean,” she uttered.

He didn’t answer. The itch was beginning to burn. She reached over to the lamp and twisted the knob. “Sean!” she snapped.

As the light came on she screamed at the sight of Sean. His face was gone, eaten away by the yellowish brown growth. She tried to move but found she couldn’t. She tossed the sheets back. “Oh God no!” she screamed. She too had the growth and it had eaten her skin away as it had Sean’s. Her legs were growths…
